In Gloucestershire, England, "The Old Spot" refers to the oldest pedigree of spotted pig in the world. Raised on small family farms throughout England, they were fed mostly "whey" and apples dropped from trees, giving them the nicknames "cottage pig" or "orchard pig". We just liked the idea of a spotted pig!
Located in historic downtown Salem, across from the Hawthorne Hotel, The Old Spot is Chef Brenden Crocker's second restaurant. Taking over where the former McSwiggins left off, you will find the same funky neighborhood vibe. The waitstaff is the same, the regulars are some of the friendliest in Salem, the beer is still cold and we think the food is better than ever. We're serving all your pub favorites including Fish & Chips, Guinness Pie and Ploughman's Lunch in addition to contemporary bistro fare in a typical pub setting. Brunch anyone? Our menu is small but cool, with everything from Fried Dough and Eggs Benny to Crawfish Cakes & Beans.
Visit us on Tuesdays for British Comedy Night or for live music on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. If you find yourself in Salem, stop by the "Spot" and say hello.
